"This hysterical female is teaching us all how to laugh again, be brave again, and live again. Start reading and get ready to be inspired, laugh your face off, and accomplish your dreams." - Jenni Pulos, star of Bravo's Flipping Out

Author Kristin Giese proves she can deliver a laugh as effortlessly as she can a lesson in Another Hysterical Female. This book features a collection of mostly funny stories from Kristin's life to fix us, the author included. Her approach is somewhat of a modern-day Mary Poppins - minus the fact that Mary never pulled a vibrator out of her carpetbag. Kristin's brand of humor is the exact spoonful of sugar we need to help our heartache go down.

Another Hysterical Female reads like an exploration in what it is to be a woman today. Kristin's stories are real, vulnerable, disarmingly honest, and hysterically funny. The entire book unfolds as if you were seated next to her at a dinner party, conversational and unexpectedly hilarious. You'll start as strangers but by dessert, she'll be the best friend you just hadn't met yet.

In Another Hysterical Female, Kristin regales us with stories from her childhood, life in entertainment as a talent manager, publicist, and producer, as well as the things she's learned running her own company - all to shed light on how what has hurt us can also point us toward what could radically heal us. "If trauma had a tagline, it would be: If you don't laugh, I'll make you cry. It's like a bully on the playground, holding us back from our happiness. In reality, we don't have to get over what has hurt us to move forward in life, but we do have to stop believing that we are what has hurt us if we truly want to build our happiness. I'm spilling the beans on what has hurt me in the hopes of doing just that in my own life."

WHAT READERS ARE SAYING ABOUT THE BOOK:
"Kristin is the best friend you never knew you needed. Her advice is savvy, compassionate, and all told with a wry wit that will have you rolling. A must read for any young woman about to start her adult life. A relatable read for any woman who's tried to balance life. And a fun read for just about any person who's lived life at all. Just read it. You're welcome." - Paige Davis, star of TLC's Trading Spaces

Reality's grip is loosened as Spyda and Lynxa explore a potentially constructed environment that shifts between dystopic future and constructed virtual present. Like a form of multistable perceptual phenomena, Anti-Gone exists in ambiguity.

Anti-Gone recalls videogames that attempt to replicate, or perhaps replace, reality. Often called virtual or synthetic worlds, massively multiplayer online worlds offer an escape into another identity, another life, where there isn't a goal or final boss like most videogames. Similarly, Anti-Gone is like Joyce with a joystick, the experience and the language of this otherworld is the meaning.

At 30, I Realized I Had No Gender

At 30, I Realized I Had No Gender

At age 30, Shou Arai (he/him) came to a realization; he had no gender. Now he was faced with a question he'd never really considered: how to age in a society where everything is so strongly segregated between two genders? This autobiographical manga explores Japanese culture surrounding gender, transgender issues, and the day to day obstacles faced by gender minorities and members of the LGBTQIA+ community with a lighthearted, comedic attitude.

"Arai's English-language debut At 30, I Realized I Had No Gender isn't his first autobiographical manga, but it is something of a rarity in terms of what we tend to get in translation: it's about aging as a queer person and being comfortable with the changes that come along with it. [...] At 30, I Realized I Had No Gender is the open, frank, and honest discussion that sticks with you. If you're looking for a book that doesn't hold back and just speaks its mind about its creator's experiences as a human being, definitely pick this up." -- Rebecca Silverman, Anime News Network

"I had not really thought about cultural differences when it comes to non-binary / trans / intersex individuals in other countries besides the US. However, the same issues of language persist no matter where you live or culture you are from. [...] I liked this manga overall for the honesty and frankness, even in the smallest detail, like when Shou gives advice to a female-to-male individual who wants to know how to grow or present a better-looking beard. Something for truly everyone along the gender and sexuality spectrum." -- Patti Martinson, Sequential Tart

Bookseller Rachel says:

This autobiographical manga by intersex, transmasculine mangaka Arai Shou is a little silly, a lot relatable, and a very fascinating mirror to what our societies expect from us. Arai uses friendly stylization and dialogue to present the reader with many of the obstacles he faces as a gender minority within Japanese society. Thoughtful and heartfelt, At 30, I Realized I Had No Gender delves into the intersections of aging, gender role and societal expectations, and how one person found a place and role for himself as an outlier in our world.

Told in classic comic-book form, this graphic biography invites a new audience to learn about Banksy--and uses a pitch-perfect medium to convey the artist's message that art is for the people.

Banksy is arguably the most well-known street artist of all time. But we don't actually know who he is.

This is just one of many contradictions that are addressed in this enormously compelling graphic biography. When two young Londoners are caught spray-painting graffiti on a city wall, they get to know each other while detained by the police. After they are released, they decide to make a film of Banksy's life, tracing the arc of his career as they travel through the streets of London.

Readers will learn not only of Banksy's politically charged art and the causes he championed, but also of its worldwide dissemination, museum exhibitions, and record-breaking auctions.

While readers may not learn Banksy's true identity, this uniquely graphic form of storytelling communicates the artist's belief that art is for everyone, speaks to everyone, and is owned by everyone.

In The Beats: A Graphic History, those who were mad to live have come back to life through artwork as vibrant as the Beat movement itself. Told by the comic legend Harvey Pekar, his frequent artistic collaborator Ed Piskor, and a range of artists and writers, including the feminist comic creator Trina Robbins and the Mad magazine artist Peter Kuper, The Beats takes us on a wild tour of a generation that, in the face of mainstream American conformity and conservatism, became known for its determined uprootedness, aggressive addictions, and startling creativity and experimentation.

What began among a small circle of friends in New York and San Francisco during the late 1940s and early 1950s laid the groundwork for a literary explosion, and this striking anthology captures the storied era in all its incarnations--from the Benzedrine-fueled antics of Kerouac, Ginsberg, and Burroughs to the painting sessions of Jay DeFeo's disheveled studio, from the jazz hipsters to the beatnik chicks, from Chicago's College of Complexes to San Francisco's famed City Lights bookstore. Snapshots of lesser-known poets and writers sit alongside frank and compelling looks at the Beats' most recognizable faces. What emerges is a brilliant collage of--and tribute to--a generation, in a form and style that is as original as its subject.
